    Purpose of Position:

    We are looking for a design engineer to join our Conyeyance & Transmission Divsion within our Water Practice.  The person in this role will perform engineering design, planning, and project management duties on various civil projects.

     

    REQUIRED LICENSE:

    Certification as an Engineering-in-Training (EIT)

    Responsibilities

    • Performs a variety of clearly defined assignments that require the application of standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Using prescribed methods, applies techniques to specific civil engineering or construction projects:  this includes technical work like civil design calculations, reading and interpreting surveys, researching design options, writing technical reports, creating project reports, basic CADD review and drafting, and project task management.
    • Design, layout, and prepare construction drawings and specifications for proposed waterline, sanitary sewers, and reclaimed waterlines and the rehabilitation of existing waterlines and sanitary sewers.
    • Perform water and sanitary sewer system planning for Cities and Municipal Utility Districts. Understand and prepare analyses, cost estimates, reports, exhibits and other illustrations to be used at meetings.
    • Responsible for creation of manpower estimates, project budgets, and managing the financial aspects of assigned engineering projects to meet or exceed project profitability goals.
    • Responsible for maintaining and documenting project budget, schedule, and quality parameters per set company processes.
    • Simultaneous management of multiple projects & tasks, with varying levels of roles and responsibilities.
    • Collaboration with internal and external Clients to meet expectations.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
    • 2 – 4 years of experience as a civil engineer; prior experience within a consulting firm preferred.
    • Experience in technical writing of deliverables including work plans, quality program documents, summary reports and project correspondence as required.
    • Experience with AutoCAD software and proficient with MS Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
    • The ability to identify work priorities and function with very little supervision.
    • Capable of independent and team work environments.
    • Demonstrate proven oral and written communication skills.
    • Must possess a strong detail-oriented work style and an accommodating and proactive attitude.
