    Jones|Carter is an award-winning, full-service civil engineering, planning, surveying, and professional consulting firm assisting public and private sector clients in design, development, implementation, and execution of infrastructure projects. For over 40 years, we have assisted our clients in a variety of projects including water and wastewater treatment plants, storm drainage, transportation, planning, construction management, and surveying. We have 8 locations across Texas: Houston, Dallas, Austin, The Woodlands, Rosenberg, College Station, Katy, and San Antonio. We currently employ over 450 experienced design professionals and support staff with plans for continued expansion and growth in our future.

    Responsibilities

    • The purpose of this position is to lead and perform TxDOT control, design and right-of-way surveys under the direction of the Project Manager.
    • Verify the accuracy of survey data including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
    • Search legal records, survey records, and land titles to obtain information about property boundaries in areas to be surveyed.
    • Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
    • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
    • Direct or conduct surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties, based on legal deeds and titles.
    • Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys.
    • Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents.
    • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features.
    • Record the results of surveys including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features.
    • Consistently meet and then exceed client expectations by ensuring accurate, complete and timely communication of information to and from clients and firm staff.
    • Ensure the preparation of accurate, complete, and value-added work products and perform complex survey computations.
    • Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed.
    • Ensure timely document delivery and deliver profitable projects.
    • Analyze and review work of survey crews.

    Qualifications

    • Must be a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the state of Texas
    • A 4-year degree in a related field preferred.
    • Must have advanced skills in MicroStation and Geopak, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little supervision.
