    Jones|Carter is an award-winning, full-service civil engineering, planning, surveying, and professional consulting firm assisting public and private sector clients in design, development, implementation, and execution of infrastructure projects. For over 40 years, we have assisted our clients in a variety of projects including water and wastewater treatment plants, storm drainage, transportation, planning, construction management, and surveying. We have 8 locations across Texas: Houston, Dallas, Austin, The Woodlands, Rosenberg, College Station, Katy, and San Antonio. We currently employ over 450 experienced design professionals and support staff with plans for continued expansion and growth in our future.

     

    The Construction Inspector performs daily inspection activities for active construction projects, works directly with Construction Manager and other team members to inspect project sites during and after construction, and ensures work conforms to contract specifications, codes, and general safety requirements.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Actively monitor and inspect construction projects from concept to final closeout. 
    • Coordinate, direct and monitor the activities of contractors/subcontractors, engineers, and related performing entities.
    • Manage construction to ensure the project is in accordance with the design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, etc.
    • Maintain official project log and documentation files, including daily reports.
    • Provide direction on planning and scheduling as required.
    • Responsible for reviewing pay estimates, change orders, and invoices.
    • Coordinate with testing lab, city and government entities, and all other third parties as necessary.
    • Manage Requests for Information (RFI) to ensure questions and answers are relevant and acceptable.
    • Promote progress of the project using all available resources.
    • Facilitate and administer project in Procore.
    • Ensure project material compliance with approved submittals.
    • Review plans for constructability.
    • Self-directed under general direction from Construction Manager.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
    • NICET or ACI Certifications, depending on practice.
    • 5 to 10 years of experience required.
    • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Project, and Word.
    • Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Box.com, and CivCast preferred.
    • Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of the construction process.
    • Ability to read and interpret construction/design drawings and specifications.
    • Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and works with a high degree of accuracy.
